BRAVO Bob Basler! I love the idea of some random person coming up and offering us money to switch to all those PERFECT antonyms you listed. They say everyone has a price, but I'm betting on ours being WAY TOO HIGH for anyone to reach. Thanks for an uplifting message.

At our surprisingly well attended rally in fire engine red Prescott, AZ, a woman approached me and asked if I lived in Prescott. People were suggesting attendees were being bussed in from Phoenix, so she was checking with random people.

Cheer up, Bob. We have a PARADE to look forward to! Cutting jobs, adding tariffs, and ditching research means there is enough in his, er, the government’s piggy bank to throw a birthday bash of the sort China and Russia have.

Don’t worry, he’s sure there are enough jobs open for all those laid off. Tariffs tanking the stock market along with rising prices is just a temporary pain. Trump is certain to have a concept of an idea for a cure to cancer, so who needs research scientists?

Love you for writing what needs to be read.

with the MAGA crowd, every accusation is a confession.

We tend to judge others by what we know best, ourselves. Which is why DECENT people have so much trouble understanding how this mess could happen.

A prime example: my friend was volunteering at a 5k to raise money for single moms in need. We've volunteered together for years at the local YMCA fundraiser 5k/10k. I told her if she needed help, I was available. She looked puzzled because she knows that I am pro-choice. I don't feel ANYONE can tell someone else what to do with their own body. But the other 'side' thinks what they believe MUST be forced on everyone. I guess in her confused mine, she sees pro-choice as pro-abortion?

I am horrified at what's being done in the US. I have environmental cancer, which will NOT be cured. It's controlled, but for the rest of my life, every 30 days, I go for bloodwork, get a refill on oral chemo, and an infusion to counteract side effects of the chemo. The town that I lived in has an unbelievably high cancer rate. The CDC investigation tracked the cause to a medical devices mfg plant. That company still refuses to admit they did anything wrong. The ONLY thing they changed was removing the memorial rock garden for all the employees who had died from cancer, and merging with another company so they could change the name.

Oh, and when I go for my monthly appt, I get to see the name of the company that caused my cancer all over the devices at the cancer center.

Getting rid of oversight isn't going to make things any better for people living in the US. Letting idiots who don't care anything about how or why destroy programs is...well, to put it very lightly, a BAD idea.

To say I am angry is an understatement. Thank you to everyone who shines a light on all this crap. Thank you to everyone who lets their voice be heard.

While I agree 100% with your view on what we see emerging, and I have no time whatsoever for the world that Trump and his cronies are trying to invent, I have to say that I'm not surprised by the claims from the right that the attendance at these protest meetings was bought. As long as some of those on the left claim that Trump and his team paid to get his followers to attend his rallies - and they do so shrilly and in numbers - they will give it back big-time. Nobody knows the truth on either side of the argument but claiming the moral high ground on point-scoring issues like this just serves to polarize even further an already hugely divided nation.

You hit the nail on the orange head. There seems to be no bottom of this rancid barrel. This has been so much worse than I anticipated and I just hope that someday the damage can be undone. I used to be a civil servant so I cringe at the Muskrats purge. And one of my sons works at the Kennedy Center. *Sigh*

Well done -- both on highlighting the power of protest in your blog and on marching yourself. The sight of all of you marching made this faraway reader hope the MAGA crew can ultimately be stopped before they damage a good country irrevocably.

I fear the damage being done to our government and country by this Administration and the gang of incompetent but dangerous people that are part of it. I also find it hard to believe that two co-equal branches of government are standing by and allowing the rule of law to be stomped on like a bunch of grapes being pressed into cheap wine.

The thing that I find actually funny in their reasoning is the engine behind it: THE presumption that nothing other than filthy lucre could possibly explain why any sane person might oppose the fine man in office who has done nothing but great things since taking office. It's the identical presumption of the Stolen Vote crowd of the 2020s. HOW CAN HE POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN DEFEATED OTHER THAN BY THEFT after two impeachments, a million people gasping to death because of lies he told us, a revolving door cabinet of people who then publicly decried his stupidity ....

Exactly, Gene. And you have to wonder why people keep accepting those cabinet positions. Sure, I'll be the 14th Secretary of State, but this time it will be okay.... I think he's better, now...
