One of the best throwback's ever, especially since I don't remember reading it previously, and especially since the moral of the story is one ALL OF US need to apply to ourselves. When my dad died, we found a book next to his bed with a marker about halfway through the book - the title was "How to Prevent Procrastination."
Every morning your stories bring a smile to my face. This one is particularly poignant as my favorite cousin passed away early this morning and I was reminded of promises of pictures to share. Thank you, Bob.
Well, this post sent me down the rabbit hole, googling Willie Morris, his life and his works. Daughter Lexie and I made a circle tour 2 years ago of Mississippi and Alabama (Selma, Birmingham, Montgomery, and at long last, Oxford and Jackson) and this has reminded me of so many southern stories I want to read or re-read. I will try not to put it off! Thanks for the adventure!
Lovely. Now, Bob, tell the truth. Put your hand on your heart and tell me you did not tweak the lead of your son's story. You desk editors could never resist...
The best laid plans of mice and men......

I have that same book, and I'm planning to read that chapter next week....
Ah, the things we put off.....
A very tender story, and sweet photo of Chris. Thanks.
Such a good story. The picture of Chris and the puppy is priceless.

Pure poetry. Beautiful story. And a good reminder.

You might want to include two of my favorites, Flannery O'Connor and Charles Portis....
I should print those photos I promised to send my friend Fabio who’s almost 80…😔
Just love it. So tell me. Should I read My Dog Skip? Will it help me stop crying about Ralph?
No, it won't do that at all, Deborah ...
And here we learn the true meaning of the word deadline....

Oh, Janie, as if editors have hearts!
