Santa Fe was breathtaking. However, I'm glad you and Barbara came to the mid-west to enjoy 4 real season changes. Your roots drew you back home. Also, you don't have to listen to the animals howling at night over their "catches". Lovely story.
Bob, Your column reminds me of the observation of Gen Lew Wallace (of "Ben Hur" fame): "All calculations based on experience elsewhere, fail in New Mexico." Ain't it the truth?
Lovely story, beautiful writing. My first trip there was in 1976, with a focus on Taos. But in recent years I’ve appreciated Santa Fe, too, especially the historic core.
Very good….l bet you could find some more special scenes, happenings, adventures, ha ha moments during your time with us in Santa Fe. I won’t forget “naked chicks in chairs”…….
Great read Bob! I am so happy to have shared some wonderful memories with you and Barbara during your Santa Fe years. We all miss you.
Thank you, Elaine. Come see us...

That's always been one of my favorite quotes about New Mexico. And, as you probably know, Lew Wallace was born in Indiana...
Also where you had a column for The Santa Fe Reporter (I think that was the name). You wrote a column on rescues (as in dogs & cats).
I commented on my fostering experience. A reader from Ohio mentioned they had ended up with one of the foster pups. I live in Georgia.
It's such a small world...
indeed. thank you for remembering....
A story with cachet about a place with cachet beyond compare. Thanks Bob for another great read.
Exactly why we still live here. Not too many cities are magical, but Santa Fe surely is. We miss you!
Thanks, Mary. Say hey to Jim. Btw, Ellen is coming here for a weekend visit on Friday....
Your best article to date:)
Golly, I wonder why you think that?

It’s true, something special about the people, so friendly, saying “so when are you moving to Santa Fe.” It all made me feel right at home.

You nailed it. Please please come back.
.We have fond memories of our visit, the casita and Kakawa chocolate! So glad you lived there for a while.
Great read! Your story reignites my desire to go to Santa Fe!
You should visit, Johanna. Your sister stayed in our guest house, and left with all of our towels...
