This 5 a.m. Story, a sentimental thank-you note to the professionals who taught me, is only three months old. It drew such a warm response when it first ran, back in February, I thought I would run it into the ground.

There is a reason. Today is National Teachers’ Day. It’s a perfect time to pick up a phone and call your favorite teacher, to say thanks.

I tried doing that, but it turns out all of mine have unlisted numbers. What are the chances?
