Just finished reading "Shy," the memoir of Richard Rodgers' daughter, Mary, and I believe there's a reference to clambakes in the book.( If you haven't read it, it's a hoot. ) But enough about Mary. Truth be told, 5 a.m. is a little early for clambakes. It's a little early for reading too, unless you stayed up all night! But I've enjoyed your 5 a.m. Stories very much when I read them around 8 a.m. Keep 'em coming!
You've captured me even MORE by quoting Rodgers and Hammerstein, or at least adapting them. Carousel was the first musical I performed in at Shortridge High School in the fall of 1962. The hits and memories just keep coming with 5 a.m. Stories. Keep 'em rolling, Bob.
I did not know you well in high school but I am definitely enjoying your stories. Thanks for sharing!!

The theme song for “5 a.m. Stories,” to me, is “Oh What a Beautiful Morning.”

And I'll be damned if he'll marry the boss' daughter
A skinny-lipped virgin with blood like water
Who'll give him a peck
And call it a kiss
And look in his eyes through a lorgnet
Say, why am I talkin' on like this?
My kid ain't even been born, yet!
Perhaps cocktail napkins as merch with either the bar photo or for the classier in the crowd, “Juliet House” in gold lettering.
everyone in this crowd is classy, Vicki.. You've been here, you know that...
I've enjoyed every one. Thank you Bob.
Let me be the first to offer my profound congratulations & appreciation for getting to ride along.
Thank you, Marty! If some of you think Marty sounds familiar, I wrote about him a few months ago, in one of my very most popular 5 a.m. Stories... https://robertbasler.substack.com/p/where-lifes-a-holiday
As is my interview with Bob on my weekly podcast, The Primrose Chronicles.
