You Gonna Eat Those Onion Rings?

Offering some gently used stories...

Molly and I are going to try something new here. I was looking at the voluminous data I get from Substack. Sadly, my earliest stories generally have the fewest clicks, which makes sense. Six months ago, when I was brand-new and just beginning to attract followers, some of my 5 a.m. Stories sort of got left behind in the dust.

Fortunately, I’m now in a position to do something about that.

I will continue to publish a shiny brand-new story every Sunday evening, for the low, low price of absolutely free. But then, mid-week, I will post a story that I think was under-viewed and deserves another chance.

Look at it like this. The people at the next table in the restaurant left without eating their onion rings, and your food hasn’t arrived yet, so you just reach over and… I mean, it isn’t like they sneezed on them or anything!

My vintage stories are just like those onion rings. They’re pretty tasty, and nobody has sneezed on them.

First up is one of my very favorites, about the search for a literary quote to engrave in our wedding bands. It was a lot of fun to write, brimming with young love and classy literary references, but only a couple hundred of you actually saw it the first time around.
