Last week, I tried an experiment. In addition to my regular new 5 a.m. Story, I posted a vintage piece from the very early days of this project. That was before I had many readers, so almost nobody saw it the first time around. .
I was very pleased with the response. Because, you know, the more people I get to read a free story, well, that’s pure profit for me.
Do the math. In the early days, I had just a few followers paying me nothing. But now, I have hundreds of them. Think of it! Hundreds and thousands of readers, all paying me absolutely nothing!
Volume, volume, volume!
Anyway. Three days ago I posted another all-new new piece, Knock-Knock-Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, and it got a great response. It will probably win awards. Today, I’m dipping into my archives to republish a story from six months ago, just a few days after my March 19 launch.
It’s called I Now Pronounce You… There is this new girl in town who meets a yokel, and decides he’s a diamond in the rough and she’s going to cut and polish the gem underneath, and they will live happily ever after.
It’s a poignant tale of young love, caramel corn and Wolfgang Puck.
And finally, I can tell you that this coming Sunday I will be posting a really, really scary Halloween story. I mean, this one is campfire scary.
Do not read it alone! And especially, do not read it in an open grave under a full moon when the vultures are migrating. Just do not do that.
I wonder if your accountant and my accountant went to the same numerology college because my guy comes up with the same totals.
Anyway, Mr B, I love re-reading the old chestnuts, and if running them again adds a few more zeros to that first one, you have my blessing.
Whoooo hoo re Sunday night.
