(The Baroness, circa 1890)
This is very hard to believe, but my 5 a.m. Stories are two-and-a-half years old. I guess I’m in a nostalgic mood, because today for Throwback Thursday I’m rerunning my very first story, Haunted, but Undaunted.
The numbers continue to astound me. Subscribers in 45 states and 29 countries, more than 142,000 page views, and $5,000 distributed to charities from my paid subscriptions.
And, helping me out through it all, the alluring Baroness Anna Louise Fransen van Gestel, the actress who enchanted theater audiences on two continents during the 1890s performing under her stage name, Rachel Deane.
The Baroness was the first occupant of our home when it was built back in 1929, and she died in this very house in 1934.
I’m still having the time of my life writing these things, and I think the Baroness enjoys them, too. Just look at the bright smile she flashes every time we get a new subscriber!
If you want to keep the Baroness happy, please click on the red button below and commit to $5 a month. That gets you a new story every Sunday, a used story on Throwback Thursdays, and unlimited access to my priceless archive of more than 140 stories.
In. addition to all that, paid subscribers get to leave personal comments under each story, and they can be just as snotty as you like.
By contrast, free subscribers only get to read a couple of paragraphs of each new story and then spend the week wondering what they missed.
Go ahead, gamble $5 and see how much your life improves. The Baroness will love it if you do!
(5 a.m. Stories are gluten-free and lightly salted.)
