Today’s Throwback Thursday retread was first posted three years ago, in April 2023. Hard for me to believe. Some of you probably weren’t even born yet.

Wait. I guess you must have been. Forget I said that.

Everything in 5 a.m. Stories was new then, even the Baroness, who of course was also very old.

Many of you know the story. We bought a house online, never seen in person, in 2020, amid a global pandemic. We drove across the country from Santa Fe to Indianapolis, with our five animals.

I was surprised to learn the original occupant of our place, Miss Rachel Deane, not her real name, had been not only a noted Shakespearean stage actress in the 1890s, but was also a genuine Dutch Baroness.
