The thing I love most about writing my 5 a.m. Stories is the feedback. Reader comments are like my crack cocaine, except, you know, less expensive.
If you haven’t noticed the COMMENTS space at the bottom of every story, take a look. I relish your reactions, even the insulting ones. Especially the insulting ones.
I mention this because the Throwback Thursday item today, from one year ago, elicited more creative feedback than almost any other.
“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” offered readers a chance to put together their own dinner party, with a guest list including any three writers, from any period in history.
And now, thanks to the miracle of cut-and-paste reruns, you get a second chance. Who will it be? Shakespeare? Shakespeare? Shakespeare, or somebody else?
The story includes my own personal guest list, with a nice surprise at the end.
There are no wrong answers, and you will not be graded or judged. Go for it!
We both agree on Kurt Vonnegut, right? I have the Palm Malls ready
Hmmm. John le Carre (aka David Cornwell), because he'd have great stories from life as a spy, Jane Austen, because I love her, and Vasily Grossman, because he died without seeing his masterwork in print and has no idea how beloved it is.
