(Molly, a successful graduate of Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary)
I alluded to this briefly in my Christmas message, but I wanted to share a few more details.
Eight months ago, in May, I put up a paywall for my 5 a.m. Stories, after publishing them for free for 15 months. It seemed only fair.
Mexico did not pay for my wall.
I said the subscription proceeds would help non-profit organizations, especially ones working for animals.
As of now, non-profits have received $2,363 from the Molly Foundation, which is named after the dog we adopted from Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary, the very week of my March 19, 2023 launch of 5 a.m. Stories.
Okay, the Molly Foundation isn’t really a foundation, I just like the way that sounds.
Here is a partial list of organizations we have given money to so far:
Sierra club
The Humane League
Save the Chimps
ASPCA
Earthjustice
Kindred Spirits
Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Fund
Four Paws
Alley Cat Allies
Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library
International Fund for Animal Welfare
Those of you who are paying for subscriptions should stand up and take a bow. You are doing good work, and that’s just about to become more important than it ever was before.
Just a reminder, a subscription is only $5 a month or $54 for a full year, and it’s as easy as clicking this SUBSCRIBE NOW button. Do it for Molly.
Okay, fine. Explain this to me. My Substack, the Gene Pool, costs $5 a month or $50 a year. How the hell do you and Babs squeeze that extra four bucks out of your readers? If you explain that publicly, right here, I will BUY ANOTHER YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION but only if you simultaneously apologize for stealing the name of my daughter -- which you know quite well -- for your sweetie dog. The Mollys of the world demand it.
Planning to share with some likely fans. Thanks for sharing the wealth with worthy organizations, and thanks for being kind to animals.
