Just a friendly reminder...

Molly and Daisy, sporting their comfy summer haircuts, stop by to see what I’m having for breakfast. The reason they look so excited is that, as I announced earlier this week, I’m putting my 5 a.m. Stories behind a very modest paywall, starting tomorrow.

All that means is, you will now be asked to pay $5 a month for a subscription that was free for the past 14 months. Non-subscribers will still be able to see a couple of paragraphs of each new story, but as you very well know, I always save my best writing for the ending.

Although my first paywall story won’t be posted until tomorrow morning, the pay mechanism has already quietly been activated, and I’ve gotten my first couple of subscriptions. Huzzah!

As I mentioned assorted animal welfare organizations will benefit from the subscriptions, which makes me very very happy. It makes Daisy and Molly happy, too, because they are both rescues.

Your subscription includes a new story almost every week, plus full access to my Substack archives, plus the fun of leaving your own sweet or snarky comments at the bottom of my stories for all to see. I love me some reader comments!

It’s been 14 months since I launched this project, with Haunted, but Undaunted, and I’ve posted more than 70 stories so far. You may reread the archives as often as you like, which means you never have to buy another book!

The process should be easy. When you click on my story tomorrow you should be asked to upgrade your subscription, and you just authorize the $5 monthly expense on your card. Of course, you may opt out at any time.
