This has been a great week!
On Monday I posted my newest 5 a.m. Story, about photographer Yousuf Karsh’s moving portrait of the artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Quite few readers seemed to like it.
Then, an O’Keeffe Facebook fan page posted a link to my piece, and the visits came rolling in. I’m guessing it was a combination of O’Keeffe fans, Karsh fans, and people planning to visit Georgia by rail.
It does seem that in approving the link to my Substack site I may inadvertently have purchased an original O’Keeffe painting, but I guess that will just have to be a business expense. How much can it be, anyway? I’ll just take it out of the Christmas Party for my 5 a.m. Stories staff.
As you know, it has become my routine to post gently used stories mid-week, so that readers who may have missed them when they first appeared six months ago can have another shot at them. It is with pleasure that I repost Songs and the Seeping Sadness, which was a follower favorite when it was first published on April 10.
I like this one, too, so I hope you enjoy it.
