I’m going to try something new. My 5 a.m. Stories archive is now pushing 100 items, and someone would really need a lot of patience to scroll down that far looking for priceless gems. Life is too short.
Still, I think there was some pretty nice stuff in those early days, 15 months ago, so I’m going to try repeating some stories for readers who may have joined us more recently.
Of course, these repeats are in addition to the brand-new stories I post every Sunday, so folks who subscribed when I put up a very modest pay wall last month will still get more than their money’s worth.
My Throwback Thursday stories must meet rigid criteria before I repost them:
They got lots of clicks and comments the first time around
They don’t say anything good about the U.S. Supreme Court
Nobody can prove I didn’t write them
They don’t say anything good about the U.S. Supreme Court
They make me a little proud when I read them again
This first repost checks all these boxes and was a reader favorite from the day it was published. You might want to have some tissues handy.
Please enjoy, Songs and the Seeping Sadness…
Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again, Naturally" has to rank up there as an over the top sad song....it starts sad and then just piles on more sad and more sad. That said, the flow and rhythm and rhyme of the song makes it fun to sing along. Enjoyed your story!! Claire loved to sing.
This was one of your best, Bob.
