I close my eyes and the years melt away, back to my boyhood home and our tiny kitchen at 44th and Primrose. The scene is all swirly, like when people remember something in old movies.
There is our Zenith radio, where we listened to “Queen for a Day.”
There’s Mom’s meat grinder that she used all the time..
Oh, and there is the deep fryer, also a daily staple. Greasy fried food was as much a part of our life as, well, heart disease.
