When you’re a journalist looking for a story, usually you have to go out and beat the bushes for something good. It comes with the territory.
But on very rare occasions, the story lands right in your lap.
Or maybe it lands on a runway in Oshkosh.
For several years during my long Reuters career I wrote a humor blog. I created offbeat characters, riffed on news stories, and always found good material on our incredible photo file. One day, I saw a photo of an airplane helping fight an oil spill down in the Gulf, and the caption said the plane was from Basler Air.
Wait! What?
