(Santa Fe Snowfall, by Robert Basler)
Wow, and again wow. Reader comments on this week’s story, Going Cold Turkey, have been so overwhelming, so moving, I’m tempted to stop writing altogether and go out on a high note.
However, I’m pretty excited about my three December Christmas-themed stories, so I guess you’ll be stuck with those.
Meanwhile, two things:
First, this photo, which is one of my all-time favorite animal shots. It was one of our tiny foster kittens, in Santa Fe, waking up to her very first snowfall - a huge one, as it happened. What a sense of awe and wonder!
And second, one of the comments on my story, from a very dear friend, which I just need to share in case you missed it. My sentiments, exactly.
Wow, Bob, you've done it again. You've told a story that seemed like it would bring us to our knees in laughter, only to pull our heartstrings like a master harpist with an illustration of why every day matters, and being thankful for the ones we love and the dishes they bring to the table is the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Thank you for this one, very, very much, and Happy Thanksgiving.
I will be back next Sunday, with a story about me and the Most Trusted Man in America…
What a beautiful, mesmerizing photo, like a painting. And the comment you quoted speaks my mind. Thank you for 5 A.M. Stories--and photos.
