(Tudor, saved by Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary)
Dear Friends,
It has been six weeks since I brought in some union carpenters and built a sturdy pay wall for 5 a.m. Stories. To get to the good new stuff, readers now have to pay a very modest $5 per month, or $54 for one year. It’s quick and easy.
In announcing this, I said I wanted the subscription money to do some good, especially for animal welfare groups. My idea was to entertain folks and help the helpless, all at the same time.
While some readers were very good sports about this, some others headed for the exit. We miss them. A fair number remain on the fence. Meanwhile, money is coming in and it’s going back out.
Among the beneficiaries thus far:
Oh, and Indy’s own razzle-dazzle Kurt Vonnegut Museum, the very coolest place in town, got a donation, too.
Anyway, to help you decide where you want to fit in, I’m posting another Throwback Thursday piece, Hot Chocolate in the 19th Century, first published on April 6, 2023. I hope you enjoy it.
